Happy February! Penguin Games has recently had a few quality-of-life updates added to server! From general changes to overly specific game updates, there are some things to uncover.
Quality of Highli- I mean Life!
Here’s a handful of the new small quality of life changes in our recent updates!
Get Reminded You Suck: /myping
We all have that moment: Losing a tough game of CtG, and not being able to tell if it is you (it probably is) or your damn connection.
So, ever want to check your ping without needing the full sidebar open? Or if you just cannot due to resolutions or platform?
Now you can! Introducing /myping, which shows you your ping. 30ms tryhards beware…
Public Survival Rush Changes
Look, we get it. Rushing to Duke Fishron solo mode is cool, but shockingly (not), normal players get a bit pissy about it!
That is why going forward in public survival sessions, rushing to Duke Fishron will now be banned until all three mechanical bosses have been defeated.
Of course, our lovely patrons override this ban by default when creating their own private survival session.
Seeing Future Timelines in Build my Thing
…Not really.
In Build my Thing, you will now be able to see what other options the builder had when choosing what to build.
Will this make it much easier to guess what Little Timmy is building? Probably not.
All Quality of Life Changes
New command: /myping
- This checks your player’s connection – ping – to the server.
Update to /join
and /spectate
: You can now join friends with either their account name or display name.
- ex.
/join Squid
or/join memesquid
/login
is more secure.
- New safeguards have been implemented to prevent users from accidentally blurting out their password.
If someone is skipped on their turn, the game now displays what word they chose.
The words the builder did not choose now displays under the following conditions:
- After the builder chooses a word.
- This displays the other words not chosen.
- If the builder passes their turn.
- If the builder is AFK and the time to pick a word runs out.
- If the builder leaves the game before choosing a word.
Changed the meaning of the acronym for BmT from “Build my Thing” to “Be my Thing” in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
A duplicate set of hotbar items has been added to every class inventory.
- Incase you drop an item from your hotbar accidentally, you’ll have a spare you can replace it with.
You can now touch grass (In Color Flash)!
Mapedit now has persistent inventories.
- This means that any time you rejoin Mapedit, the inventory used previously in that instance will be regenerated.
Builder inventory updated with a few new items.
- Added Hand of Creation to the inventory.
- Added Spectre Goggles to the inventory.
- Added Builder & Mining Potions to the inventory.
- Changed Rod of Discord to Rod of Harmony in the inventory.
There is now a box at spawn that resets your inventory
- This makes it much easier for builders to reset back down to zero when building! This box is indicated by ruby gemspark walls.
- The region to get the basic building inventory has been moved & is now indicated by emerald gemspark walls.
Announcement boxes have been unbanned.
- We are trusting users to not inappropriately use this item.
- If there is misuse, the actioned user will lose access to Mapedit.
Freebuild works again (yay).
- Any builds made before its downtime are still there.
Freebuild now has persistent inventories.
- This means that any time you rejoin Freebuild, the inventory used previously in that instance will be regenerated.
New Item Ban gimmicks added (-ib)
- NoFishing
- NoWings
Public Survival now enforces a “No Duke Fishron Rush” ban.
- Patrons override this ban by default when creating a private survival session.
- Patrons can apply this ban by adding the flag
-nodukebeforemech
in/survival create
.
The issue with players unable to join Survival when it is empty is fixed.
- We apologize to our patrons who experienced this inconvenience when trying to run their own private Survival sessions
Players vs. Environment now has persistent inventories.
- This means that any time you rejoin Players vs. Environment, the inventory used previously in that instance will be regenerated.
- Your inventory will still reset upon dying! It is do or die in this world.
