Community Guidelines

Effective: 1 April 2024

Last Updated: 1 April 2024

Penguin Games is intended to be a fun, safe, and friendly environment for all players to enjoy. As such, we have a list of rules we expect all players to follow with no exceptions. By choosing to use the Penguin Games Terraria Server, Discord, or other relevant platforms, you agree to follow all the rules listed below. Furthermore, you agree to follow the terms of service on other platforms we use.

If you encounter a user, message, or something on Penguin Games that appear to break these guidelines, please report it to us.

Respect the Age Requirement (13+)

  • You must be at least 13 years old and meet the age of digital consent in your country to access the server.
    • If you are found to be underage, your account will be disabled.
  • This applies universally, whether on the official Discord server, social media, etc.

Treat Others With Respect and Good Intentions

  • Acting disruptive, aggressive, toxic, or discriminatory to purposefully upset other users is strictly prohibited.
    • This includes insults, backtalking, and slurs related to race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sex.
  • Avoid discussing politics, religion, acts of violence, or other sensitive topics.
  • Maliciously impersonating another user, staff member, or public figure is prohibited.
  • Encouraging rule-breaking is also prohibited and will result in consequences for the party breaking the rules and anyone else encouraging them to do so.
  • Sending malicious or fraudulent links on the server or in other members’ private messages is strictly prohibited and will result in severe action.

Keep Things Appropriate

  • Penguin Games is not an e-dating platform.
  • Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content is strictly prohibited.
    • This includes content featuring extreme violence or gore, self-harm, pornography, and suggestive or borderline content.
  • Profiles (username, avatar, status, etc.) must also comply with server rules.
  • Do not spam messages and media.
    • Copypastas, chains, etc. are prohibited and will be treated as spam.
  • Certain spaces are dedicated to discussing specific topics.
    • Keep the conversation relevant to them.
    • If you want to diverge, talk in a general space or through private messages.
  • Keep advertisements at a minimum.

Do Not Abuse Exploits or Third-party Software.

  • Do not ruin the game for others.
  • This includes taking advantage of game, server, or map exploits, cheating, griefing, sharing accounts and using third-party software to gain an advantage.
  • Sharing other people’s personal information, such as real names, addresses, or social media accounts in a malicious manner without their permission will be considered doxing and will result in severe action.
  • Any exploits will result in severe action imposed on your account.
    • Please report bugs to Penguin Games instead!

Stick to English

  • The Penguin Games Terraria server and other platforms are primarily English-speaking.
  • In addition, the Penguin Games staff team does not have the capacity to moderate several different languages.
  • For the sake of moderation, users speaking any language other than English will be asked to stop.
    • There are minor exceptions to this such as common phrases, or if the people in an instance are speaking the same language.

Do Not Share Accounts

  • Sharing accounts with other players is prohibited. This is due to point boosting & privacy risks.

Do Not Evade Punishments

  • Using alternate accounts to evade punishment is not allowed, and any attempts will escalate your prior infractions.
  • This does not mean having an alternate account is against the rules, but rather, using it for bypassing infractions is strictly against the rules.

Respect the Staff Team

  • The Penguin Games staff team is here to facilitate a healthy environment – on the server, Discord, and other platforms.
  • If a staff member says to stop doing something, do not argue with them.
    • If a user feels misjudged, please reach out privately to the staff team for a conversation.
  • If a user believes they have received an unfair punishment, they are more than welcome to dispute it by privately messaging the staff team.
    • Any discussion regarding punishments should not take place in public chats.

In general, the Penguin Games staff team follows a warn → mute or temporary ban → permanent ban system, although the staff team reserves the right to administer instant bans for severe rule breaks as well the right to remove individuals we deem are not contributing positively to the community.

If you see any activity that violates these guidelines or other policies, please report it to us directly through /report <text> or through platforms such as Discord. Do note that while the staff team may not be able to respond immediately, we do note down behavior and take account of future actions.

These guidelines will evolve over time. This means the Penguin Games staff team may take action against a user for reasons not explicitly mentioned in the guidelines, so if a new threat or harm emerges that is not covered in the current version.

Penguin Games will always make sure to notify users when these guidelines update, but it is nonetheless always important for users to follow them regardless.

If someone wishes to appeal their ban – either on the Terraria or Discord server – there is a dedicated Discord server for those cases, with relevant information on how to appeal: https://discord.gg/GxZPZjpbF4
