CTG Update | Spring Changes

CTG Logo

Spring cleaning, spring changes, regardless of what you want to call it, the newest CTG update is here!

This update focuses on adjusting classes with another group of SItem introductions, further stat rebalancing as well as a whole lot of event changes! Furthermore, we have some other additions such as another new map and the long awaited CTG Hall Of Fame! So lets hop right into the changes!

Capture the Gem: Hall of Fame

CTG Hall of Fame

After quite a while of waiting (and procrastinating) it is finally here! The Hall of Fame area has been added to the Capture the Gem lobby. This was the last thing on our to do list so now we can finally say that CTGL2 is over.

What is the point of this area you may wonder? Basically to answer that, above all its to showcase the gamers. All winners who were a part of each Capture the Gem league are now immortalised in this lobby. But it also serves as a great chilling area with your friends between matches or while spectating.

You can visit this area whenever by going through the door at the top left or top right of the spectator area in CTG.

A New Map has Arrived! "Goblin" by fearghal & Jiji

CTG Map - Goblin

It has been quite a while since our last CTG map addition but we finally have another addition to the rotation! This map is all about the points, just like some Goblin ears!

As a reminder, If you also have cool map ideas and want to fully envision, you can always get started by applying for Mapedit on our Discord server!

Class Adjustment Highlights!

Archer

Rather than a bow, a harp is now held by the Archer. Despite the difference in weaponry, they still fire arrows via the magic that is SItem! This harp will allow for a more balanced firerate going forward along with other stats.

Beast

If you thought one SItem was a lot, Beast has two! Both its Musket & Nano Bullets use this to balance their stats & firerate. Also, some of its other stats have received some small adjustments as well.

Flame Bunny

Like other classes, Flame Bunny is next to join the group of SItem users with its Boomerang! However its main changes come from its ability balancing. A slight delay has been added as well as with lowering the duration & strength of its inferno ring.

Tiki Priest

Tiki’s changes revolve around its totems! They’ve received some rebalanced stats & functionality in the form of decay. Additionally, Tiki’s healing has also been adjusted to be on-hit when attacking enemies. This is both for the Tiki & their nearby allies in about a 20 block radius!

For more detailed information on the changes as well as the rest of the class changes, check the full CTG update changelog below!

As mentioned in the recent Server Quality of Life blog post, there are several warnings to show when and what the next event is. The warnings are the following:

  • A sidebar timer showing when the next event is at all times.
  • A sound played 5 seconds before.
  • Overhead text 5 seconds before.
  • Finally, a chat message sent to everyone 5 seconds before.

The following events have been added!

  • Bouncy Boulder (May the chaos ensue)
  • Bouncy Dynamite (Let even more chaos ensue)
  • Cluster Rocket Launcher (Even more chaos!)
  • Happy Grenade
  • Frost Daggerfish
  • Umbrella and Tragic Umbrella events have been re-added.

The duration of the invisibility event has been halved, it now lasts 30 seconds rather than 1 minute.

The Rocket Launcher given for the regular rocket and cluster rocket events now has a “Broken” modifier to nerf the damage, previously no prefix was applied to the rocket event.

The following events have been removed.

  • Wrath
  • Smoke Bomb
  • Paint splatter / Paint Glitching

StruckPlayer has been fixed (hopefully). Basically, this means that Archer’s ability and Tiki’s new healing will work consistently 100% of the time.

CTG’s playercap has been reduced from 20 to 16.

  • Basically, the max lobby size has gone from 10v10 to 8v8.
  • This change was done accordingly to a poll on our Discord. We hope that this change will lead to less stalling & tedious matches in the largest Capture the Gem lobbies.

But that’s all of the changes for the latest CTG update! We hope you enjoy the changes we’ve made, from the class adjustments to the event additions & finally the quality of life changes!

Next time a Quality of Life blog post is put out you can expect to see a few more small CTG changes, till then, stay tuned!
