Hello everyone, it has been about a month since our 10 year anniversary event took place.
Now that we have had some time for the dust to settle, relax and collect ourselves for our usual day to day lives, it is time to reminisce. Reminisce on an event, about doing just that.
Before we get into the summary I’d just like to write with a piece of me to you for a moment.
Thank you to everyone who was here for this event as well as who helped us shape the server over the years.
We have a long list of credits & heartfelt memories throughout this post, but I first wanted to open with a thank you. As without our community over the decade now, this server would not be here. All sorts of players across our server have grown genuine connections from this place, myself very much so included. We have all learned many things as well, ranging from creative to more general practical skills. And of course, we have made memories together. Memories in a niche internet video game server community, even if the medium isn’t the most popular, we’re here as a community sharing this space.
So thank you, I have all sorts more I can say but for now I’ll leave it at that. Now onto the recap!
The Anniversary Week Summary!
Across the 10 year anniversary week, we had a variety of festivities across the server, now onto the recap!
Terraria Discord x Penguin Games Parkour Speedrunning 2: Electric Boogaloo
As a leadup to our anniversary week, we teamed up with our good friends at the Terraria Discord for another Parkour Speedrunning contest! This time, the maps were Lilac & Rainforest, both made by Yoshachobi7!
You can find our winners here! Congratulations again to those who won!
Penguin Games Memories: Community reminiscing!
Together as a community, new faces or old, dozens of us came together to share some memories. These were screenshots of fun moments together, short highlight reels or just written memories. Letters to each other were shared, & solace was spread.
We thank everyone who left some memories, it helps us feel our little niche internet community has left an impact. We hope to share some more memories in the future.
The 10 Year Anniversary PixPaint Canvas
Given the occasion, we have revived a community favourite host, PixPaint! This time, hosted entirely within a “small” survival world. As for the world download for the community canvas as promised, you can find it on our Discord! We will note it has been moved to a “medium” world as a few pixel arts would be cut when off of our server otherwise.
We hope to bring back this host for future semi-special occasions, stay tuned for the next canvas! It will hopefully also have some much needed QoL to make the painting process better… We’ll also have some better moderation of large for no reason pieces. Looking at you “100 boxes of doom”…
But in the meantime, thank you to everyone who contributed. This canvas was filled with all sorts of love from so many community artists shining lights on their favourite media.
Penguin Games Multimedia Contest Results!
Alongside our usual monthly submission event, we held a multimedia contest themed around Penguin Games. Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations again to our winners here!
Penguin Games on air: The Ask me Anything / Q&A! (Plus PixPaint showcase)
YOU asked us questions, WE gave answers! For this event, we had both some of our current admin & staff team as well as some former veterans stop by! We answered probably a few dozen questions throughout this stream, & we had plenty of fun doing so!
If you’d like to relive the memories or rewind back for the funny moments, check it out here!
Penguin Games Trivia: A gameshow to reminisce!
As a callback to 2017 & the hosts done by Yodesman, we held a Penguin Games trivia quiz! This featured 50 questions with a variety of server trivia and sections they fit into… Now who wants to count how many blocks make up the main lobby?
Anywho, congratulations to our winners as seen above! And thank you again to everyone who participated! This may be something we look into doing again in the future.
If you want to review the nerdy details for next time, you can see the VOD of this host here!
Host Lobby Showcase: Creativity at its finest!
To give some love to our endless variety of community creations over 10 years now, we stopped by Host Lobby! This gamemode acts as a hub for most of our player created gamemodes, ranging from the classics such as Layers up to some more recent highlights such as Blaze Haste, there is all sorts to enjoy!
Thanks again to Alviss for helping with most of this host alongside other staff members as well as our players who stopped by! Apologies that the group photo above isn’t from the matching session.
But, you can find the VOD here! Excuse Squid’s sleep button mishap which meant losing part of the stream…
SharedHP Survival: A couple to end in tragedy!
Oh boy. For another one of our festivities throughout the week, we hosted another SharedHP Survival run. It went… surprisingly solid! Well, after the initial causalities.
This was a fun social experiment to run through again with players on the server. If you want to see how the attempts went, check them out here!
The Great 24 Hour Marathon: Squid's plea for help...
Jokes aside, Squid hosted a 24 hour marathon stream! This took us all over the server across almost all of our gamemodes. It also featured plenty of hosts held by staff members, including myself who hasn’t hosted in a good few years!
This was a fantastically fun way to wrap up our 10 year anniversary event, so thank you to everyone who stopped by for this long haul! And thank you to Squid to being up to the task… Maybe same time next year would be good to revisit it, reaction video style.
One day we’ll maybe put together a bit of a highlight reel to share as there were all sorts of funny moments to go around. But in the meantime, here are the VODs!
And anything else we didn't schedule! Who is getting paid to keep track anyways?!
