Anyways, hello everyone! We’ve reached the end of 2025 & with it comes the latest server recap! Additionally…
Happy New Year Penguin Gamers and Terrarians!
2025 has been a big moment for us, even as an overall quieter year before 1.4.5. The server turned 10! If you’ve been here since day one, you’re old! (Or not..?) Anywho, we have plenty of events and server highlights for the year to refresh on, & a future to continue to push towards!
As with prior years, we are ending 2025 with a reflection of what we accomplished & our feelings going forwards to 2026! In particular with the future, we’re finally charging into Terraria 1.4.5!
… But, we should get to looking our year in the mirror before we get too ahead of ourselves.

Server Recap
We bet even more on when 1.4.5 would drop in 2025, let’s just say we were all wrong on thinking it would be in 2025.
This year, we focused a lot on celebrating (roughly) 10 whole years of Penguin Games! We did still have some more server updates throughout the year, some more polishing around some rough edges, tackling more of our suggestions backlog, a few notable gamemode updates, the usual.

To reminisce once more, we held a Penguin Games Anniversary Week between August 17th & 23rd of 2025. During this week, we had a large variety of festivities take place with the community. Some of those will be recapped here, others we’ll save the exact details for our dedicated Celebratory Wrap-Up post you can find here!
Penguin Games: Celebratory Showcases!
Over the course of our celebratory week, Squid streamed a variety of activities on the server. These range from showcasing some of the cool player made creations in Host Lobby to show what YOU have to offer for fun on the server, to hectic SharedHP survivals! Several staff members also stopped by to help smoothen out the events.
You can find the VODs here! Additionally, we’ll be recapping more of the festivities under the Community Recap further below! But for now, onto some updates!
Penguin Games Hair Salon: Open for Business!
Tell any of your closest friends who may be beginning to experience hair loss, or even staff members… The hair salon has been a long overdue addition to our vanity area, but a welcome one nonetheless as it even further fleshes out your style!
We hope you enjoy styling yourself with even fancier hair. You can access it anytime by typing /salon after meeting the rank requirement!
As with each year, we added even more Parkour maps! This gamemode continues to shine as a center for community creations, as well as flesh out the server as a whole even more!
Additionally, we also polished up even more QoL additions for the mode from our backlog, there isn’t much left before we truly consider Parkour as a “feature complete” gamemode. From there, it just becomes a cycle of continuing to maintain & update with future maps, par times, etc. You can find a few bits of the QoL added this year here!
However, any Terraria updates or grand ideas we get later down the road may change things, stay tuned!
It wouldn’t be a year of Penguin Games without another Class Wars update! Especially after a successful Class Wars League! We dropped this during our anniversary week to add a handful more of community class concepts to the game! These also came alongside the usual balance changes.
Overall though, it has been a quieter year for Class Wars, but this is due to the incoming meteor of 1.4.5. There will be a LOT of balancing to come after the update, some of your favourite classes may be counting their remaining days…

Community Recap
As usual, we had plenty of community events throughout the year here at Penguin Games, including more parts of our anniversary week! But, we also in general had a variety of other community highlights from the year!

After a lengthy few months leading into 2025, we finally wrapped up our first Class Wars League! Congratulations to Yeehawfish with the following team members:

This was a fun event to host to spread our tournament wings a little more, as well as also celebrate Class Wars reaching over 200 classes. We hope to continue hosting more cool stuff like this in the future! Additionally, you can find the rest of the final standings here!
YOUR memories were another part of our anniversary week. Because of course, without all of you, our little Terraria server wouldn’t be here to this day! So we ask you to share some of your fond memories.

A Return to the Drawing Board! Anniversary PixPaint!
Over the years we have had a variety of PixPaint canvas hosts of varying scale, but we wanted to go big again with the one for the anniversary week as it has been quite some time.
We are so proud of what our community came together to create, from large artpieces to niche server references, every piece of paint was placed for a reason! We hope to continue hosting more PixPaint canvases in the future beyond 2025, which you will see another one shortly in this post!

As another part of our anniversary, we reached out to more of our friends! This time, it was yet another collaboration with the official Terraria Discord server in the form of a follow up Parkour speedrunning contest! For two weeks, we had an onslaught of participants competing for the best time for one of the chosen maps.
Congratulations to Tig for first place on lilac, and zane for first place on rainforest.
We are happy to continue partnering with the Terraria Discord server, look out for more down the road! For now, join their Discord server and talk everything Terraria there.
PixPaint Strikes Back! The Holiday Canvas!
That’s right! To close out 2025 with a pretty little bow, we decided to hold another PixPaint canvas!
This was a shorter period than the first due to it being relatively busy a bit past the holidays, but we are still very proud with this canvas just like the anniversary one. We hope to continue doing these more into 2026 with further improvements over each, so please stay tuned.

Later in the year, our community banded together over a silly Discord feature that tracks how long a voice call could go on for. It started with a few hours, then a few days, then a few weeks, months, and now it has somehow crossed 4 digit hours, it was even foretold to hit 1000 in our Holiday PixPaint canvas!
Somehow, it is STILL going in 2026. Plenty of community games have been run over the course of this as well, including… Among Us… Anywho, as of writing this, it currently sits at 1570:25:45, even with multiple outages it still stands.
Shoutout to everyone who either made it to the 1000 hour screenshot, or was there even just for a few minutes along the way! We don’t know how long this voice call will keep going for, but we congratulate our community for making it happen as we are probably one of the few places in the world this has happened. So thanks for making Penguin Games special in that regard?
Event central at Players vs. Environment Continues!
The team behind Players vs. Environment has continued to put a lot of work into delivering a multitude of events this year! More bingos, collectathons, PvP duels, &everything in between! They have put a lot of work into ensuring that PvE remains replayable for everyone.
We appreciate everyone who has continued to participate in these events. Additionally, if you have some feedback, we’d love to hear it here!

And as usual, we had a diverse range of awesome events held for the community this year! All alongside our larger anniversary event.

Reflection of the Year and the Future
While there were plenty of things we accomplished this year, 2025 was a much quieter year overall for the server. In part, with the long 1.4.5 wait time. However, it has also been a good period for us to get a breather before the storm, the storm we’ll chase head on!
How will this immediate push through the many hotfixes to come look like? We’re not quite sure yet, but, we’ll make our way through it maintaining gamemodes as we can, as well as trying to add some fresh new content ASAP! Like functionality with all the new special seeds for survival hosting!
As for what comes past that? We can’t quite share yet, but we have plenty planned & in the works that we are excited to get out. We also have plenty of boring stuff too, but that is mostly backend organisation for us. Please stay tuned for what’s next!
