Gamemode Restrictions #

In some gamemodes, you may not be able to use your pet or dyes due to restrictions. Below is a list of games and why they are restricted:

  • Hunger Games – Dyes are disabled due to inventory clutter, similar to other vanity items.
  • Survival, Classic Capture the Gem, Players vs. Environment – Dyes are disabled due to being able to sell them for coins to NPCs.
  • Parkour, Host Lobby – Some maps/minigames may disallow pets due to using pressure pads in wiring-focused maps.
  • Players versus Players, Freebuild, Mapedit – Dyes are disabled due to persisting inventories in these modes. However, you can give yourself any dye you want here!

Other Notes #

  • Losing your donor status will remove your pet.
  • As Terraria updates come out with new pets, there may be some time before it’s available to donors.
  • Some gamemodes – while not restricted – may put you at a disadvantage if it includes any form of invisibility. This includes classes in gamemodes like Ninja in Capture the Gem. We recommend using /pet off accordingly. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
