So you want to build a map for Penguin Games?
Well, now you can! Introducing Mapedit, the hub for creating, submitting, and collaborating on maps. Mapedit supports a plethora of game modes on Penguin Games, allowing users to take a stab at variety.
What is Mapedit? #

Mapedit is a server tool created by Penguin Games to easily build, collaborate, and manage maps for the Terraria server. By using Mapedit, players can contribute their own development to the server! A benefit of Mapedit is that users can collaborate with others to build maps, so if one is more suited for decoration while the other is an expert at gameplay, the two can work together to build an amazing collaboration.
Currently, Mapedit supports building maps for the following games/microgames:
- Animal Hunt (hunt)
- Aquarium (aqua)
- Bomb Tag (bomb)
- Class Wars (cw)
- Capture the Gem (ctg)
- Death Run (death)
- Host Lobby (host,hostlobby)
- Hunger Games (hg)
- Lava Run (lava)
- One Shot One Kill (osok)
- Parkour (parkour)
- Pig Run (pigrun)
- Races (races)
- Spleef (spleef)
- Tank Wars (tw)
- Tough Mudder (mudder)
- Who’s the Killer (wtk)
- Miscellaneous (misc)
Getting Access to Mapedit #
Due to concerns of any sort of malicious action, to use Mapedit, players must submit an application and be manually approved by Server Staff to gain access. No worries though, the process is extremely easy!
Requirements #
- You must have a linked Discord account.
- This also implies you must be on the Discord server.
- Check your messages with Botguin (or send b!resend in the #bots channel) to get linked.
- You must have at least five hours of active time in-game.
- This does not include time spent in Freebuild, Parkour, Players vs. Environment, or Players vs. Players.
- Your application can be rejected if your builds are low-quality or if you have a history of toxicity in the community.
- You can only send one message in the channel – your application. Nothing else!
- If your application is rejected or if you have lost Mapedit access, you can re-apply after seven days.
Application Process #
- Join the Discord server.
One of the core components of Mapedit is its integration with Discord to create a live discussion over your map submission, allowing you and reviewers to work together to improve your map.
Discord server: https://discord.gg/penguingames - Go to the #apply-for-mapedit channel and read through the pinned message.
This message details everything you need to know about what to send as an application, as well as requirements and other important information.
